Today's Morning Prayer
How many of you have been asked some version of this from your parents: “why is your room so messy? Do you think you were born in a barn?” Well if you’ve heard this, then there’s good news for you, because Jesus—the son of the living God—was, in fact, born in a barn!
The point is this: Jesus doesn’t avoid the mess of our humanity; he was born into it because our mess is worth being part of—God wants to be here with us—this is what Christmas is all about! Remember, when life gets messy and hard, it’s the perfect place for God to be.
Let us pray in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord our God, you are merciful and awesome. You give us hope through the humanity of Jesus, who has lifted us up to the divinity you call us to. Draw us to yourself today Lord, and teach us your way of seeing the world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord as we pray in the words that he taught us: “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.”
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
God bless you always in Christ,
